This is a guest blog by ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ App Inventor staff member Jeff Freilich.
One morning in mid-November, two intrepid ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ undergrads, Viktoria (Vik) Tabunshchyk and Tommy Heng, rose extra early (...not an easy feat for an ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ undergrad) to deliver a stellar ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ App Inventor workshop via videoconference to a class of eager eighth graders in Appalachian Kentucky. The middle schoolers had a great opportunity to learn how to create their first mobile app and pose questions to our ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ students about their experiences at ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ.
ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ App Inventor is now taught in middle schools across Floyd, Pike and other rural Kentucky counties to teach vital computational thinking skills to middle school, high school and community college students eager to align their career path toward technology.
